A few top holiday trends for 2012 – in Europe, many are still having to keep close tabs on their finances due to the recession so cheap holiday destinations are going to be big this year. Currency is one things to think about – does the country use the expensive Euro or is there a currency that can be bought cheaper, helping you get more from your money? This factor has helped Turkey surge in popularity as it uses Lira rather than the Euro. Croatia and Eastern European countries are also set to be popular this year. More established destinations like Spain, America and france will likely see a small loss in market share as cheaper countries increase in popularity.

Whatever you go this year do your research and enjoy a cheap holiday at a great destination!

The city of Šibenik is situated in central part of the eastern Adriatic coast in the protected natural harbor. It is surrounded with the picturesque bay where the Krka River flows into Adriatic Sea. The Krka River is one of the most beautiful rivers in Croatia. Krka National Park is known for its many waterfalls, flora, fauna and historical and archaeological sites. Except the Krka National Park, the National Park Kornati is also located near Šibenik. The Kornati archipelago is situated west of Šibenik. It consists of 150 islands in the sea area of about 320 m² that makes it the densest archipelago in the Mediterranean Sea.

Šibenik is the oldest town founded by Croatian people on the Adriatic coast. It was mentioned for the fist time in a document of the King Petar Krešimir IV in 1066. That is why Šibenik is also called "Krešimir's city".

The city of Šibenik has a lot of cultural and historical monuments and one that particularly stands out is the Cathedral of St. Jacob. The Cathedral is the largest and most valuable object of the architectural heritage of Šibenik. It stands out with its beauty, design and stylistic features and represents a unique monument of sacral architecture that has been inscribed in the UNESCO World Heritage List in 2000.

Šibenik is the combination of the old part with narrow streets and the new part with modern architecture. It is the city of culture because of its stone paved streets, squares and houses. The streets are narrow and winding with hundreds of stone paved stairs. The old city core is surrounded by stone walls and fortresses that remind people of the town's past. It is surrounded by towers of St. Michael, St. John and Šubicevac.

Šibenik has a Mediterranean climate, with mild, humid winters and hot, dry summers. Winters are cold because of the strong winds. The average yearly temperature is 15.7 °C. It has about 2,570 hours of sunshine per year and about 886 liters of rain per square meter in one year. The snow falls very rarely. The summer temperature is on average between 28°C and 34°C, while the sea temperature is from 22°C up to 25°C.
